Coach Herring is a 1993 graduate of Solon high school in Cleveland, Ohio. During that time, Kim was a record setting tailback and kick returner who was a 2-time big school 1st team all-state, all-american and rated the #1 running back in Ohio upon his graduation.
Upon receiving multiple scholarship offers, Kim decided to play for Joe Paterno at Penn State University majoring in Nutritional Science.
